STEP 1: INSTALL MOUNTING POSTS ON THE OPENING

  • Decide whether you want to position the posts inside or outside the opening. For enhanced stability, mounting the posts on the outside is often preferred, as the wall provides added support.
  • Ensure the rubber seals on the posts are facing the wall, and the U-channel opening is directed toward the protected area to accommodate the planks.
  • Use a hammer drill to create holes for the expanding wall anchors (included in the kit).
  • Insert the anchors and expand them to securely attach the posts to the wall. The posts should be fixed to a solid surface, such as concrete, cement, or cinderblock, to guarantee the system’s stability.

STEP 2: INSERT PLANKS INTO THE U-CHANNEL POSTS

  • To prepare for a potential flood, slide the aluminum planks into the U-channel slots on both sides of the opening.
  • Loosen the tightening bolts and the top locking bracket to allow the planks to slide smoothly into place.
  • Make sure the rubber seal on each plank faces downward to create a watertight connection with the ground. Press down on the bottom plank to ensure a secure seal.
  • Continue inserting the planks one by one until the barrier reaches the desired height.
  • If reflective warning tape is included in your kit, place the marked plank at the top to improve visibility.

STEP 3: SECURE THE PLANKS IN PLACE

  • Use the provided Allen wrench to tighten the planks against the internal rubber seals, ensuring they are firmly positioned.
  • Insert the top locking clamps into the slot at the top of each post. Tighten the clamps using the Allen wrench to apply pressure on the planks, improving the seal between each slat.
  • Adjust the tightening bolts on the posts to further secure the planks, ensuring a tight seal with the neoprene strips inside the U-channel.

STEP 4: POST-FLOOD MAINTENANCE

  • Once the flood risk has passed, remove the planks in reverse order.
  • Clean off any debris, dry the components thoroughly, and store the system safely for future use.
